Restarting Posting

Many moons have gone by since I last posted here. I did an owner-build project building my house, and instead of the 7 months I planned, it took nearly twice as long. Boy am I glad to be done!

We're west of Dripping Springs, in the hill country west of Austin, and north of San Antonio. Lynda and I are gradually getting settled in. Enjoying having lots of interesting places to go that are nearby. Dallas is relatively limited in that area--the countryside around there just doesn't compare to here.

Sunday we drove over to Fredericksburg, which while a little touristy, is really a neat little town, with lots of old buildings among the oldest in the state.

I've been doing another blog about my ownerbuilding project, hosted at http://www.ownerbuildbook.com/. The full address for my particular blog there is http://www.ownerbuilderbook.com/blogs/users/PennsmithLostValleyTX.aspx

The whole site is a rich deposit of intelligence on how to build your own house, to save money and to insure better quality. There's over 20,000 pages. Anybody who wants to build a house, and has some time flexibility, and at least average common sense, should seriously consider being an owner-builder.

Here's a few pictures from my project:
